Vinod Khosla, the Indian-origin billionaire and venture capitalist, has taken a stand against Elon Musk after the Tesla CEO accused him of limiting access to a public beach near his California home. Musk's post featured a photo of a sign stating "No plebs allowed," allegedly associated with Khosla, igniting a heated exchange between the two tech titans.
Musk criticized Khosla, saying, "Vinod says we should send tens of thousands of unvetted migrants to small towns throughout America, but he didn’t even want to let the public walk on his beach." He added humorously, "I’m throwing a party on Vinod’s beach! For cuisine, I’m thinking BBQ."
In response, Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and head of Khosla Ventures, demanded an apology from Musk for what he called "spreading falsehoods" and suggested that the photo might be AI-generated. "You owe me an apology for spreading falsehoods. This post of yours needs a community comment for being a fraudulent photo," he asserted, denying he had ever put up such a sign
.
Khosla further addressed Musk's recent endorsement of Donald Trump, stating that while they might agree on some issues, they differ significantly on others, especially concerning democracy and presidential values.
He also provided context about the ongoing legal battles over Martins Beach, which he purchased in 2008. Khosla faced years of litigation regarding a gate he installed that restricts public access. He argued that the property is private and legally his. "Every court ruling has supported my claim that this is private property," he emphasized.
The exchange has drawn considerable attention, underscoring the tensions between the two billionaires over public access and individual rights.
